What It Is<\/h2>

An SSL\/TLS certificate is a digital ID card for your website. When someone visits, their browser checks the certificate to confirm the site really belongs to your domain, then uses it to set up an encrypted connection. People still say SSL, but the technology in use today is its successor, TLS (Transport Layer Security). Think of it as a sealed envelope instead of a postcard: anyone handling it along the way cannot read what is inside.<\/p>

Why It Matters for Your Business<\/h2>

Without a certificate, browsers like Chrome label your site "Not secure" in the address bar, which makes visitors hesitate before filling in a contact form or paying for a booking. Picture a salon whose booking page shows that warning. Some clients will simply call a competitor instead. A certificate is also expected by search engines, and it is required before you can take card payments on your own site.<\/p>
