Framework Explained.

In one sentenceA framework is a ready-made set of code, tools and rules that developers build on, so they do not have to write common features from scratch.

What It Is

A framework is a foundation of prewritten code that gives developers a head start. Instead of building every menu, grid layout or login system from nothing, they use the framework’s tested pieces and follow its conventions. It is similar to a prefabricated house kit: the beams are cut and the plan is set, so the builder spends time on what makes this house unique. Frameworks exist for front-end design, for back-end logic and for whole applications.

Why It Matters for Your Business

For a small business, the framework your site is built on affects cost, speed and who can maintain it later. A site built on a popular, well-documented framework is easier to hand to a new developer if your original one moves on. A site built on an obscure or abandoned framework can leave you stuck, paying more for every small change or facing a full rebuild sooner than expected.

Good to Know

Before signing off on a custom build, ask what framework or platform it uses, how widely it is used and how updates are handled. You do not need to understand the code. You just want to know that the foundation is common, actively maintained and not tied to a single person.
