Restore Point Explained.

In one sentenceA restore point is a saved snapshot of your website at a specific moment, letting you roll the site back to exactly how it was at that time.

What It Is

A restore point is one specific backup, labeled with the date and time it was made, that you can return to. If backups are the photo album, a restore point is one photo in it. Many hosts and backup tools create them automatically each day, and you can also make one by hand right before a risky change. Restoring puts your files and database back to that exact moment.

Why It Matters for Your Business

Restore points give you a safety net for everyday changes. Before updating a theme or installing a new booking plugin, a fitness studio owner can create a restore point. If the update breaks the class schedule, rolling back takes minutes instead of hours of troubleshooting. Knowing you can undo a change also makes it easier to keep your site updated.

Good to Know

Restoring an older point also erases anything that happened after it, such as new orders, form submissions, comments or blog posts. Before rolling back an online store, export recent orders or note them down so nothing is lost. When possible, test risky changes on a staging site first, so you rarely need to roll back the live site at all.
