What It Is
A template is a reusable page layout. It decides where the header, photo, text, sidebar and footer sit, and you fill in the content. It works like a fill-in-the-blanks form or a cookie cutter: the shape stays the same while the dough changes. In WordPress, a theme is made of many templates, for example one for blog posts, one for regular pages and one for search results.
Why It Matters for Your Business
Templates help a small business stay consistent and save time. If you add a new service page for "gutter cleaning," a service-page template can give it the same structure as your other services, with the same headline style, photo placement and contact button. Visitors find their way around more easily when pages follow a familiar pattern, and you do not need a designer for every new page.
Good to Know
Templates bought from marketplaces often look great in the demo because the demo uses perfect photos and short, punchy text. Before choosing one, imagine your real content in it: your own photos, your longer service descriptions, your logo. If the layout only works with stock images, it may disappoint once your actual business is in it.
