What It Is
A DNS record is one line of instruction in your domain’s DNS settings. Each record has a type, a name and a value. Different types do different jobs: an A record points to a website server, an MX record handles email, a TXT record holds verification notes, and so on. Together they work like a set of mail-forwarding cards for your domain.
Why It Matters for Your Business
Most website and email setups come down to adding or changing a few DNS records. When you sign up for a new email service, booking tool or Google service, it will often ask you to add a record to prove you own the domain or to route traffic. Getting these right keeps your site reachable and your email out of spam folders.
Good to Know
Copy record values exactly, including dots and capitalization where shown. A single missing character can break the record. Delete records only when you know what they do. If you are unsure, save a copy of the current records first, then ask your host or email provider to confirm the exact values before you make the change yourself.
