What It Is
Page speed is an overall measure of how fast your pages appear and respond. It includes how soon visitors see something on screen, how quickly the main content shows, and how fast the page reacts when someone taps a button. Google measures parts of this through Core Web Vitals. It is the website equivalent of how long customers wait in line before someone helps them.
Why It Matters for Your Business
Slow pages lose customers. Many people give up on a site that does not load quickly, especially on a phone with a weak signal. Speed is also one of the signals Google uses for ranking. A contractor whose homepage is weighed down by huge photos and a dozen plugins may be losing both visitors and search visibility to faster competitors.
Good to Know
Free tools such as Google PageSpeed Insights can show what slows your site down. The usual culprits are oversized images, too many plugins, heavy page builders, slow hosting and lack of caching. Fix the biggest issues first rather than chasing a perfect score. Always test on mobile, since that is how most local customers will find you.
