Hero Section Explained.

In one sentenceA hero section is the large banner area at the top of a web page, usually with a main headline, an image and a primary button.

What It Is

The hero section is the big, eye-catching area at the very top of a page, often the full width of the screen. It typically includes a bold headline, a short supporting line, a strong photo or video and one main button. It is the page’s front window display, the first thing people notice.

Why It Matters for Your Business

A well-made hero section tells visitors in seconds what you do and who you do it for. A contractor might use a photo of a finished kitchen, the headline "Kitchen remodels in Chicago’s North Side," and a "Get a free estimate" button. That is far more useful than a generic slogan over a stock photo of a handshake.

Good to Know

Avoid rotating sliders with several messages. Visitors rarely wait for them, and they can slow the page down. One clear message usually works better. Also keep large hero images compressed so the page still loads quickly on phones. A slow hero image delays everything below it.
