White Space Explained.

In one sentenceWhite space is the empty space around text, images and other elements on a page that makes content easier to read and focus on.

What It Is

White space, also called negative space, is the empty area between and around things on a page: the margins, the gaps between paragraphs and the room around buttons and images. It does not have to be white. It is simply space with nothing in it. Think of a well-arranged shop window where each item has room to breathe, versus one crammed with everything at once.

Why It Matters for Your Business

White space helps visitors understand what matters. A salon page with generous spacing around its service list and booking button feels calm and premium, and the important parts stand out. A page with no breathing room feels cluttered, makes text harder to read and can make visitors miss the button they need.

Good to Know

Empty space is not wasted space. Resist the urge to fill every gap with more text, badges or images. If everything is emphasized, nothing stands out. Giving each section room makes your key message and your main button easier to find, and it makes the whole site feel more confident and trustworthy.
